MY STUDIO

I am Daniela Prina, a paper marbler, and I find inspiration in the dialogue between tradition and contemporary creation.

PAPIERS PRINA is my personal project, born from the desire to promote craftsmanship and convey aesthetic and ethical values. Through it, I reinvent an ancient technique, marbling, through hand-decorated papers and objects.

Inspired by tradition, the marbled papers of PAPIERS PRINA combine the precision of techniques perfected over time with contemporary, high-quality materials and colours. Beyond the method, it is my curiosity, creativity, and passion for experimentation that give them their distinctive character. Each sheet expresses my personal vision of marbling and becomes a truly unique paper.

These papers find their place in bookbinding, in interior decoration, and in the creation of objects.

PAPIERS PRINA products are intended for those who seek quality, beauty, and durability.

“The past is not dead, but is living in us, and will be alive in the future which we are now helping to make”.

MY BACKGROUND

I am an Italian and Belgian architect-engineer and architectural and design historian.

Since my childhood, artistic craftsmanship has been a guiding thread in my life. I first wove it within a family of artisans, then throughout my studies.

Between craftsmanship, art, and design, my academic research – published in various books and international journals – has nourished both my reflection and my practice.

Marbled paper has fascinated me for a long time. But it was in Copenhagen, upon discovering the grace of Suminagashi – the Japanese marbling technique – that I chose to devote myself to it.

Self-taught, I now create in my studio unique marbled papers, entirely handmade, with an approach that is mindful of materials and respectful of the environment.
